India and Saudi Arabia Forge Partnership to Strengthen India’s Food Security
In a move aimed at bolstering its agricultural resilience, India has secured a crucial long-term agreement with Saudi Arabia for the supply of much-needed fertilizer. This landmark deal between Saudi mining giant Ma’aden and Indian companies IPL, KRIBHCO, and CIL promises a consistent flow of essential nutrients to Indian farms.
Millions of Tons of Fertilizer Secured Annually
The agreement guarantees the import of 3.1 million metric tons of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer each year for the next five years. This substantial quantity will significantly contribute to India’s agricultural output and enhance food security for its vast population. Even more promising is the potential for the agreement to be extended for an additional five years, further solidifying the partnership and ensuring long-term stability.

This collaboration comes at a crucial time, with global food security facing increasing challenges. By securing a reliable source of fertilizer, India is taking proactive steps to safeguard its agricultural sector and ensure stable food production for years to come.
