Patiala Municipal Corporation’s Office Seized Over Unpaid Dues

In a significant move, a Patiala court has ordered the attachment of the Patiala Municipal Corporation’s office building and other assets, including the commissioner’s official vehicle. This drastic action comes as a result of the corporation’s failure to pay dues amounting to Rs 3.2 lakh to the family of a deceased employee, Varinderjit Singh.

Family’s Long Battle for Compensation

The family of Varinderjit Singh has been fighting a protracted legal battle to receive the compensation they are owed. Despite previous court orders mandating the payment, the corporation has failed to comply. Their appeal to the Supreme Court was also dismissed, leaving the family with limited recourse.

Court Orders Seizure of Assets

The Patiala court’s decision to seize the corporation’s assets, including its office building and the commissioner’s car, underscores the seriousness of the situation. This action aims to compel the corporation to finally fulfill its obligations and provide the much-needed financial support to the grieving family.
