Arunachal Pradesh Mob Violence: Migrant Worker Accused of Assault Killed

A tragic incident unfolded in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley district on Friday, where a 19-year-old migrant worker accused of sexually assaulting multiple young girls was killed by an angry mob. The man was dragged out of the Roing police station and fatally attacked.

Allegations of Sexual Assault Against Minors

The migrant worker was accused of assaulting seven young girls between the ages of six and nine. After a search, he was apprehended and handed over to the police. However, before a proper investigation could take place, a mob formed outside the police station.

Mob Justice and Concerns for Safety

The mob overpowered the police and forcibly removed the accused from the station. The man succumbed to his injuries after being severely assaulted. This incident raises serious concerns about the prevalence of mob justice and the ability of law enforcement to protect individuals, even those in custody. The focus should be on ensuring due process and the safety of all involved, including both the victims and the accused.
