Budaun Teen Receives 20-Year Sentence for 2017 Gang Rape

A teenager tried as an adult has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his participation in the horrific 2017 gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in Budaun. This verdict brings a measure of justice to the survivor who bravely testified against her attackers.

Co-accused Confessions and Survivor’s Testimony Secure Conviction

Unlike his co-accused, who confessed to their crimes in juvenile court, the convicted teen pleaded not guilty. However, the survivor’s powerful testimony, combined with medical evidence and the confessions of the other perpetrators, proved crucial in securing his conviction.

Court Imposes Rs 50,000 Fine in Addition to Prison Sentence

In addition to the 20-year prison sentence, the court imposed a fine of Rs 50,000. This case underscores the severity with which the justice system treats such heinous crimes and highlights the importance of supporting survivors in their pursuit of justice.
