Delhi Schools: Art Thrives, But Job Skills Lag Behind

A recent PARAKH 2024 report shines a light on a concerning disparity within Delhi’s education system. While a remarkable 97% of schools champion experiential learning through art and cultural activities, the development of crucial job skills lags significantly behind, reaching only 42% of schools.

The Growing Gap Between Creativity and Career Preparedness

Although students express a strong desire for job-related training, the lack of necessary infrastructure and its integration into the core curriculum creates a formidable obstacle. This gap hinders their preparation for the demands of the modern job market.

Bridging the Divide: A Call for Change

The report underscores the urgent need for Delhi’s education system to bridge this gap. While nurturing creativity is essential, equipping students with practical job skills is equally vital for their future success. Addressing the lack of infrastructure and incorporating job training into the mainstream curriculum are crucial steps toward empowering Delhi’s students and preparing them for fulfilling careers.
