India’s ASTRA Missile Achieves Direct Hit in Key Test, Bolstering Air Defense

In a significant boost to India’s air defense capabilities, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully tested the ASTRA Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM). The test, conducted off the coast of Odisha, saw the missile score a direct hit on a high-speed aerial target.

Indigenous RF Seeker Proves its Precision

The ASTRA missile, equipped with an indigenously developed Radio Frequency (RF) seeker, demonstrated remarkable precision and lethality during the trial. This successful test validates the missile’s effectiveness against fast-moving aerial threats.

Paving the Way for LCA Tejas Integration

This achievement marks a critical step towards integrating the ASTRA missile onto the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas AF MK1A. This integration will significantly enhance the Tejas’ combat capabilities, further solidifying India’s position in indigenous defense production.
